Togetherhood – A Virtual Village Committed To Nurturing Our Quirky Kids

A unique online community just launched called Togetherhood.com and we’re really excited about their mission. We’ve invited Lisa Steyn to share more about this new initiative in today’s guest post.

Togetherhood - Find Your People

Togetherhood.com is a new virtual village where parents, practitioners, and educators can connect around the shared intention of empowering quirky kids.

So what’s a Quirky kid?

Togetherhood uses the term “quirky” to refer to a child that seems like every other kid on the outside but on the inside struggles with neurological, behavioral or learning challenges. These are often invisible conditions like anxiety, sensory integration, attention and spectrum disorders.

These differences or “quirks” are not widely understood which makes it difficult to find ways to support them, making the business of parenting that much trickier. Often these kids are challenged by simple things and sadly misunderstood because they don’t have physical obstacles. Their obstacles are hidden deep within their minds and it’s up to us to help figure them out.

Our infrastructure simply lacks the awareness and resources to support the needs of a growing neurodiverse population. We know that and we want to help parents navigate this changing parenting landscape. Togetherhood is powered by parents just like you. They parent their own quirky kids each and every day so they understand that sometimes the pegs just don’t fit in the holes and that’s why they want to work together with other parents to change the shape of the holes. Together we can blaze a trail to support our kids.

Togetherhood.com is empowering parents to empower their kids.

It is part divining rod — making it easy to find like-minded parents who share your journey, and the right practitioners and resources through trusted user reviews; part group hug — they’ve created a fundamentally safe, non-judgemental space where members can openly share reviews, stories and experiences; and part power tool — empowering parents to make informed choices through the Togetherhood network.

Togetherhood is here to insure that no one ever feels alone in their journey. Still not sure if Togetherhood is for you? Read this letter one of our moms wrote to her son.
