Trespassing Boy Caught On Video ‘Stealing’ Hugs From A Neighbor’s Dog

Trespassing boy steals some hugs from a neighbor’s dog

It may sound creepy to catch someone wandering into your garage daily on surveillance video, but one woman did — and it was so cute she had to identify the culprit.

In the video that spread across Facebook, a little boy rides his bike past a garage in his neighborhood where a dog is waiting. He drops his bike, sprints up the driveway into the garage, gives the dog the world’s most adorable hug, and then POOF! He’s gone. He books it back down to his bike and hightails it out of there. Like some kind of adorable hugging bandit.

Luckily for us, the dog’s – and the garage’s – owner has a video camera set up to watch his dog, as she witnesses this random act of hugging. But she has no idea who the boy is. She’d love to let him know that he doesn’t have to run away – the dog would love to play with him.

Attn Neighbors! Anyone know who this sweet little boy is? Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesn’t know if he should be here! I’d like to tell him he’s welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!

Apparently the boy is worried he’s trespassing, or maybe that the dog’s owner doesn’t like kids. But when the dog’s owner reached out online, the mystery was solved and the little boy was identified as a dog-lover named Josh.

His mother posted on the video: “Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn’t know he was doing things like this. 🙈 Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn’t be on someone’s property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much.”

Luckily, Dutchess’s owner is more than happy to share, and posted an update inviting Josh back to visit the dog.

The dog’s owner also posted an update.

“So mystery solved guys, hope this sweet little boy Josh continues to come play and love up on Dutchess! A dog is a friend for life!”

Thanks to Facebook, where the video has been viewed 3.1 million times, Josh has since been back to see the dog – and to meet Hollie – without any need for secrecy or subterfuge. And based on the selfies Josh and Dutchess have taken together, it looks like the start of a beautiful friendship indeed.
