We’re so excited to announce that one of our fabulous writers, Amy Knight, has had a new baby boy. Amy and her new son, Ari Dean, are here today to share with you the Lalabu Soothe Shirt® which is an all-in-one babywearing shirt with built-in nursing bra for mom and a cozy carrying pouch for baby. This post is sponsored, so extra thanks for reading and sharing.
Having a new baby is both hard and amazing. You just gave birth to an amazing little person, and you both are trying to get to know one another. Between breastfeeding, the sleepless nights, figuring out what your baby needs, and trying to get into some sort of routine (plus all the normal worries of a new parent) can be downright exhausting. My first born, August, was trying to say the least. Not only was her delivery one for the books, we also had breastfeeding issues, weight gain issues, she was constantly fussy and wanting to nurse, and because of her crazy delivery, I had lots of healing to do and literally couldn’t get anything done. We struggled for months, and I was too overwhelmed to even think most of the time.
Enter baby number two. It has been a completely different ball game. He was delivered 42 hours faster than his sister (nope, not exaggerating) and has nursed and slept like a champ since. He’s only a few weeks old, but this kid gets me. He knows how overwhelmed this mama is trying to take care of two children at once, so he has been oh-so-gracious to me. We are all adjusting to being a family of four, and I’m thankful that, so far, he has been much easier than his sister was.
With August, we loved baby wearing, but honestly, in the beginning with all our issues, I was too overwhelmed. She nursed constantly, and the idea of having to take on and off slings or baby carriers was exhausting to my new mommy brain. So, in the beginning we rarely ever did.
Lalabu graciously sent their soothe shirt and a pair of leggings for me to try. I wish I had both of these items for my firstborn.
The Soothe Shirt is fabulous. Not only does it make baby wearing easy, but you aren’t taking a carrier on and off every time you need to nurse. You can wear it all day and easily slip baby in and out anytime. Plus, it includes a nursing tank to make breastfeeding easy without having to wear two shirts. Having two kids now, baby wearing is a must. It makes life so much easier to care for a toddler and get just about anything done. Using the soothe shirt gives you a free arm. You still need one hand to hold baby’s head, but having one hand available and your baby secure next to you is a great feeling.
But does it work? Heck, yeah. My son was getting a little cranky, so I put him in the soothe shirt and he calmed down instantly. Infants love to be close to mama, and the soothe shirt allows just that. They can hear your heart beat and the rhythm of your breathing, plus the snugness of the fabric allows them to feel like they are in the womb again, calming them down. Coming into this scary new world with all the new sights and sounds can be overwhelming. Recreating that womb feeling can really help them calm down and adjust to their new environment.
Let’s talk about Lalabu’s leggings. I’m seriously in love. I swear I look and feel at least 10 lbs lighter with them. They are made with a really comfortable, stretchy material and the compression panel is fabulous. That squishy new mommy tummy basically disappears. Those extra little love handles that you put on during pregnancy – you know, from eating lots of butter and chocolate covered frozen bananas (or was that just me?) – I mean, to help support a healthy baby… pretty much gone. There is so much to love about these leggings, and I will be wearing them way past the postpartum period. Like forever and ever. They are my new favorite pants, and they are magical, if pants could be magical.
Pair these two together and they make the perfect postpartum outfit. Perfect for staying inside or getting out and about. I love wearing both the soothe shirt and the leggings out to do my grocery shopping, going to play at the park, or story time at the library. It has truly made becoming a mom of two a lot easier. I’m really thankful for the opportunity to try the Lalabu leggings and soothe shirt. I would add these to a must-have list for postpartum. Add them to your baby registry, friends, because they are wonderful.
Thank you again, Lalabu, for allowing me to review these items. You made my life easier, and I’m far more comfortable with my postpartum body than I would have been.
